We then break into three age and ability appropriate teams. The teams then rotate through three sessions of 11-14 minutes each. There is an overriding lesson each week and the children experience the lesson in several different ways during our time together.
- They travel to Story Zone, where they hear a story from the Bible. This Zone is interactive- the children might learn some sign language related to the story or perhaps participate in reading the story with the Pilot. This Zone also includes an “Object Lesson” where the relevance of the Bible story is discussed with the children.
- They then go on to Bible Zone. This Zone is where the children (and Pilots, if the truth be known) obtain assistance in hiding God’s word in their hearts. The Pilot of this Zone listens as the children relay their learning from the previous week and then assigns a new verse related to this week’s lesson. The verse is discussed, repeated and reviewed in game, coloring and puzzle format.
- Game Zone is the third zone. This station reinforces and expands upon the lesson through play. The children experience the lesson through movement and interaction.
Here are some comments from some of the kids:
“You learn and have some fun at the same time.”
“Tons of fun, lots of games and stuff. Filled with the things that children need to grow.”
“KidZone is very fun.”
“I like that we earn points.”
“The people here are nice.”
